Local 4 Lifestyle Editor, Jon Jordan, joined “Live in the D” to explore the special connection between certain female pop stars and the gay community.
“There is indeed a special connection to pop divas and the gay community. But I also think that it’s something that anybody, regardless of gender or sexuality, can have strong opinions about,” Jordan said.
Jordan defined the true meaning of a diva and even gave examples such as Diana Ross, Liza Minnelli, and Cher, just to name a few. Jordan noted how these artists’ charisma, legacy, and commanding stage presence have made them icons in mainstream music and the gay community.
“It’s hard to equal the talent that these women exhibit…They’ve appeared on Broadway, they have a unique sense of style, and they all are rapid fire wits so that’s a really long checklist and hard to compete with,” Jordan said.
