Dragons have descended at new Detroit Zoo exhibit

Dragon Forest is open for anyone who loves mythical creatures

Presented by Michigan First Credit Union, Dragon Forest has more than 30 sculptures and animatronics on the attraction trail.

Reporter April Morton joined Guest Relations’ Cole Kilpinski on “Live in the D” and shared more about what guests can expect.

“So, we have over thirty creatures, a lot of which are animatronic... We have a lot of photo opportunities, such as the three-headed hydra behind me, as well as climbable sculptures that kids can climb on and take photos on,” Kilpinski said.

You can expect interactive photo opportunities, educational stations, and themed souvenirs to take home. None of this would be possible without the help of the Detroit Zoo volunteers. Crystal Bell, volunteer services manager at Detroit Zoological Society, shared ways you can be of service.

“So, we have 1,200 volunteers with our organization... There are about three to four volunteers along the trail. They’re here to help invite the guests in and make sure they stop along the quest, so we really appreciate the help we get with our volunteers,” Bell said.

The Dragon Forest is a three-acre trail at the Detroit Zoo, open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May 24 to September 7. The mystical exhibit is here for a limited time, so be sure to purchase your tickets here.
