Elevate your outdoor entertaining this season

It’s the season for outdoor entertainment and the perfect time to build your backyard oasis. Interior designer Dawn Newkirk with Gorman’s Home Furnishings and Interior Design joined “Live in the D” and shared tips to create the perfect backyard getaway.

“You should sit down and think about how you want to use this space,” Newkirk said when asked about the process of selecting patio furniture. “Really think about how you want to entertain,” she added.

Finding ways to elevate your outdoor furniture while also keeping it practical is key in this process. Live in the D’s April Morton mentioned a key factor: durability.

“Anything that is made for outside is going to be able to handle a Michigan summer,” Newkirk said.

The designer talked about the variety of options when it comes to water-resistant fabrics.
