National Pet Fire Safety Day is July 15, and it’s a great time to get a head start with making sure you have the knowledge to keep your pets safe if there’s ever a fire.
AnnMarie Chamberlain with Michigan Humane shared some important fire safety tips, which are listed below:
Keep candles, lamps, and other flammable objects out of reach of pets.
Make note of places your pet naps or hides so you know where to find them during an emergency.
Keep collars and leashes near the door.
Keep microchip and collar information updated in case your pets get loose during a fire.
Get a rescue alert sticker that tells first responders the number of pets in your home.
Michigan Humane has multiple pets that are in need of adoption, including a dog named Hawthorn who AnnMarie said is ready for an adventure.
