Michigan Celtic Festival Celebrates Heritage with Flair

Music, Dance, and Merriment Await at Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds

Dust off your kilts and tune up the bagpipes, the Michigan Celtic Festival promises a weekend of vibrant heritage and high-energy fun at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds. From July 11-12, visitors are invited to dive into a spirited celebration featuring music, dance, and the ever-popular Highland Games.

Katherine Downie of the Michigan Celtic Festival appeared on “Live In The D” to share insight into the event. “There’s something for everyone, even if you don’t think you’re Celtic. Everybody is Celtic at the Celtic Festival.” This year, festival-goers can expect a myriad of activities, from lively Corgi Races to captivating sheep herding demonstrations, all while exploring a variety of Celtic-themed vendors.

Jillian Wolf of Motor City Irish Dance highlighted the festival’s mission to blend tradition with innovation. “We’re passionate about keeping our culture alive and preserving that traditional heritage, but also passing it on to future generations,” she said. The group, known for its performance-focused training, will showcase their talents, inspiring dancers young and old to embrace the art of Irish dance.

The festivities kick off July 11th with Pub Night, a lively prelude featuring the ‘Mr. Pretty Legs in a Kilt Competition’ at 8:30 PM. “We have live Celtic music, all kinds of beer, and an incredible amount of food,” Downie adds, ensuring a night full of laughter and merriment.
