Monday, July 14, marks National Mac and Cheese Day — a perfect time to celebrate one of America’s favorite comfort foods in style.
Stephanie and Joe Spencer, co-owners of Louisiana Creole Gumbo joined “Live in the D” and shared their take on a loaded Creole mac and cheese dish.
“We’ve been serving Detroit since 1970 - more than fifty years. We specialize in authentic creole gumbo recipes,” said Joe Spencer.
When it comes to their loaded Creole mac and cheese, Stephanie walked through the key steps and ingredients.
For those craving the perfect toasty crust on their mac and cheese, she shared some tips. “You’re going to bake it in the oven covered (with foil) and for the last couple minutes you’re going to blast it with heat,” she noted.
