Feline leukemia awareness grows as Michigan Humane highlights adoptable cats with condition

What potential adopters should know

Feline leukemia is a condition more cat lovers are starting to learn about, especially those considering adoption.

Lidia Vesterfelt from Michigan Humane joined “Live in the D” to explain what it means when a cat tests positive for feline leukemia and how these cats can still be loving, adoptable companions.

Vesterfelt introduced “Robert,” a cat currently available for adoption. Potential adopters should know that while these cats may have health challenges, they offer just as much love and companionship as any other pet.

Cats with feline leukemia require special care to live their best lives. “FeLV-positive cats can still live very long and happy lives as long as they have regular vet visits and exams so they can catch anything early,” Vesterfelt said.

The Mike Morse Law Firm is sponsoring the adoption fees for today’s featured pet, making it easier for someone to give Robert a forever home.
