Traverse City Hosts Inaugural Food & Wine Festival

Culinary Delights and Wine Wonders Await August 20-24

Northern Michigan is gearing up for a flavorful extravaganza as the inaugural Traverse City Food and Wine Festival kicks off from August 20 to 24. The event promises a delectable blend of culinary artistry and regional wine excellence.

Detroit’s renowned Chef Omar Anani, a double James Beard Award nominee known for his bold flavors, is eager to bring his culinary style to the festival. He appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about his role in the festival. “A lot of people don’t realize that Michigan actually has the second largest eco-climate behind California. We grow so much stuff, and that belt for growing is right in the Traverse City area,” Anani shared, highlighting the region’s rich agricultural offerings.

Whitney Waara, the Event Director, emphasized the unique opportunities the festival presents. “Traverse City is really a great spot to be able to come and enjoy both the value-added products and fresh produce. The Traverse Wine Coast is a real agricultural hub,” she noted.

With over 70 events scheduled, including farm-to-table cooking classes, vineyard dinners, and wine tasting experiences, attendees are encouraged to curate their own culinary adventure. For more information, visit traversecityfoodandwine.com.
