Seasonal anxiety isn’t just for winter: Detroit locals unpack the fall scaries

Friends of “Live In The D” weigh in

Many look forward to the warm months all year, but the approach of August and inching toward the end of the summer season can bring on a little anxiety—sometimes called the “fall scaries.”

Joining “Live in the D” to unpack these mid-summer blues were familiar faces: Mary-Liz Curtin, owner of Leon and Lulu’s and Three Cats Cafe; comedian Dave Mishevitz; and Vanessa Cohen, founder of Motor City Date Night.

With July 21 already here, the hosts asked, “Is it too early for summer ending anxiety to start?”

“I’m still waiting for summer to even start,” Curtin explained. “It’s been raining, I can’t put the top down. It’s been a slow ramp for me,” she said.

Although Curtin is waiting for summer to heat up, some are content with it coming to an end. Cohen expressed she is more than ready for the kids to go back to school.

“We have been traveling somewhere every month since April, I am tired,” Cohen said.

They discussed ways to make the most out of the summer weather, offering tips on finding balance and enjoying the moment.
