The Motor City is paying tribute to its rich musical heritage as the Just Brothers are honored at the inaugural Northern Soul Hall of Fame ceremony. Their track “Sliced Tomatoes,” famously sampled by Fatboy Slim, boasts over 13 million Spotify plays.
“This is about time someone honored them for that creation,” said Jimi Hansome, son of the late Jimmy Bryant, emphasizing the timeless appeal of the Just Brothers’ music. Chazz Bryant, who is Hansome’s son, is also building on the Bryant entertainment legacy. He was a contestant on the reality TV show “Love Island.”
“Sliced Tomatoes is a song that has been featured in video games like GTA. I see it living on for a lifetime,” Chazz said during an appearance on “Live In The D.’
The ceremony takes place tonight (July 30th) at 8 p.m. at Courtyard Three One Three. It’s located at 18419 Schoolcraft Road in Detroit. The event marks a significant moment for both the Bryant family and Detroit’s enduring musical influence.
