Kerouac’s Legacy Rides Again in New Documentary

“Kerouac’s Road: The Beat of a Nation” Debuts in Detroit

Director Ebs Burnough brings a modern lens to Jack Kerouac’s iconic novel in the documentary Kerouac’s Road: The Beat of a Nation. Appearing on “Live In The D,” Burnough shared insights into Kerouac’s enduring relevance: “In a world of algorithms and polarizing politics, one of the things that really brings us together is the road.”

The film, which features voices from artists like Natalie Merchant and Josh Brolin, premieres Friday, August 8th, at Emagine Palladium in Birmingham.

“We’re all on our individual roads... a great metaphor for each of our personal paths,” said Burnough, emphasizing the universal journey depicted in the documentary.
