SW Fest set to return to Detroit

Festival will be held August 23rd

Nearly 50 musical acts will be performing when SW Fest fills Southwest Detroit with music on August 23rd.

The festival will also feature around one-hundred vendors, along with a kids’ zone.

One of the performers, Gabriel Duran, described the inspiration for the festival.

“Five years back, we were obviously coming off of a very hard year for the entire world really with the pandemic in 2020. So, a lot of us felt like there was a void, especially in our community, to just all gather together to really elevate not just local artists, but just the culture that exists within our community and everything that makes Southwest Detroit so beautiful,” Duran said.

The fifth annual SW Fest will be held Saturday, Aug. 23rd from noon until 10 p.m. at the Senate Theater in Detroit.
