Is your pet microchipped?

Michigan Humane shares the benefits of microchipping your four-legged friends

Check the Chip Day is August 15th, and it’s the perfect time to make sure your pet’s microchip is up-to-date.

“They are a little device that goes right under your pet’s skin, and it has all of your contact information so in the event that your pet goes missing and a shelter finds that animal and they scan the microchip, all of your information is going to come up and they’re going to be able to reunite you with your pet,” explained Lidia Vesterfelt with Michigan Humane.

Lidia stressed the importance of keeping microchips up-to-date, calling them “invaluable.”

All of the pets adopted through Michigan Humane are microchipped, she said.

One of the animals that Michigan Humane has up for adoption is a dog named Gavin who is around two years old. Watch the video above to meet Gavin.
