Mother, daughter behind creations that are hitting the runway

Mahogani Collections will be taking part in New York Fashion Week

A mother-daughter duo is making a name for themselves in the world of fashion. From Detroit to New York, Phyllis Mitchell and Christine Eades have plans to showcase the designs from their brand called Mahogani Collections.

Mitchell said she wanted to be a fashion designer since she was six years old, but it was her daughter that gave her the inspiration to try to live her dream out.

Now Mitchell and Eadese are behind Mahogani Collections, which started with jewelry and expanded to a variety of attire.

“We use a lot of semi-precious stones and metals, clay, just about everything, even fabric,” Eades said while describing their jewelry.

Mahogani Collections will be highlighted in various upcoming fashion shows, including Indie Fest Detroit on Sunday, Aug. 24th. Mahogani Collections will also be participating in Michigan Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week.
