High Fashion Meets Philanthropy: A 90-Year Legacy

Iconic Resale Store Launches Couture & More Collection to Support Local Communities

Metro Detroit’s beloved Council Re|sale, a staple in the resale community for 90 years, is elevating its fashion game with the introduction of the Couture & More collection. This exciting new venture was spotlighted on “Live In The D” by Sallyjo Levine, the former president of the National Council of Jewish Women, and Rochelle Adler, the store manager at Council Re|sale in Berkley.

“Everything that we bring in goes out to our community, either a small community or a larger community,” said Levine, speaking on the store’s storied past and its latest initiative. This underscores the mission of the National Council of Jewish Women to enhance the lives of women, children, and families through the proceeds of the store’s operations.

Adler shared her enthusiasm for the latest collection, saying, “This is the first time we’re doing a high-end boutique within the fall showcase.” The collection boasts an impressive array of designer items, including never-worn Chanel shoes from Neiman Marcus and a vintage Christian Dior lounge dress, alongside household items and children’s goods.

The event, scheduled for this Sunday from 12 PM to 4:30 PM, promises a blend of high fashion and eclectic pieces, all in pristine condition. “We cater to everybody,” said Adler, ensuring that both men and women can find something special, with items ranging from Gucci ties to Versace blazers.

Admission to the event is free, but access to the exclusive boutique area will be managed through a numbered system, making it a first-come, first-served affair. With a history of long lines snaking around the block, attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

As Council Re|sale steps into the future with this new collection, it remains deeply rooted in its commitment to giving back. From the Back-to-School Store in Detroit to the Backpack Project in Oakland County, the store’s initiatives continue to make a tangible difference in the community.
