Back-to-School Fashion: Not Just for Kids Anymore

Redefining Style Even if You’re Not a Student

Back-to-school fashion isn’t just for kids anymore. Local 4 Lifestyle Editor Jon Jordan appeared on “Live In The D” to share his insights on this year’s back-to-school trends, proving that fashion is a class act for all ages.

“Back to school fashion continuously reinterprets classic trends from the past,” Jordan explained, emphasizing that these styles aren’t reserved just for the younger crowd. “What I like to call ‘scholastic fantastic’ are classic but upscale versions of back-to-school looks,” he added with a chuckle.

During the segment, models showcased a variety of looks, from upscale versions of iconic styles like Alicia Silverstone’s in “Clueless” to preppy and modern attire. Jordan highlighted the versatility of these styles, pointing out that “people think you have to be a size zero to wear a cropped jacket, but if you do long layers, you can definitely wear a crop jacket and make it look interesting.”

The men weren’t left out of the fashion lesson. Jordan introduced an “elevated adult version of back-to-school fashion,” featuring classic private school looks and athletic inspired styles, complete with trendy leather varsity jackets. “Vests are really huge this season,” Jordan noted, ushering in a new wave of nostalgic yet fresh aesthetics.

While the models paraded in high-low fashion combinations, such as Walmart’s $17 bootcut jeans paired with more upscale pieces, Jordan emphasized the importance of mixing and matching high-end and affordable items. “It’s how you mix it up,” he said.
