Lilly MacPhee debuts ‘Someone I Knew’ on “Live In The D”

Singer teams with Candlebox’s Mike Leslie for a tender, folk-leaning duet

Lilly MacPhee returned to “Live In The D’s” Music Monday to premiere her new single, Someone I Knew. She performed the intimate duet with guitarist and vocalist Mike Leslie, known for his work with Candlebox.

“I always envisioned it to be a duet song, and Mike lended his voice to the track,” MacPhee said, noting the collaboration grew out of a longtime friendship and an organic creative fit.

Rooted in a warm, folky singer-songwriter vibe, the song leans into heartbreak and healing as the seasons turn. “It’s a very folky singer-songwriter style, and overall, I’d say the song is a cozy song for anybody that may be going through a heartbreak,” she said. “Hopefully people will know that they’re not alone.”

MacPhee said she crafted Someone I Knew with screen sync in mind after a previous placement with a Hallmark movie, adding she hopes the new track finds a home in TV or film.
