New street art event coming to Ann Arbor

Street Art Encounter will be held Sept. 12th

Street Art Encounter will fill downtown Ann Arbor on Friday. It’s a brand-new event that will transform Tree Town into an open-air art gallery.

Visitors can experience street art from live mural painting to interactive installations. Fifteen artists will be participating in the event, explained Ashley Schafer, the executive director of Main Street Area Association.

“We have seven double-sided walls. Each artist will have one side of the wall, eight hours to complete a piece that resonates with their artistic style and our city,” Schafer said.

Along with the art, there will also be opportunities for in-street dining in downtown Ann Arbor.

The Street Art Encounter will be held on Friday, Sept. 12th from noon until 8 p.m. on Main Street in Ann Arbor. The event is free to attend.
