Birmingham Street Art Fair returns Sept. 13-14

100 artists, family fun and a cause: supporting mental health through Common Ground

The Birmingham Street Art Fair is back this weekend with about 100 artists, local eats and plenty for families to do - and it’s all supporting Common Ground during National Suicide Prevention Month.

The two-day fair runs Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13-14, in downtown Birmingham. Expect paintings, jewelry, wood and glass works, plus photography - including the tranquil landscapes of James Parker, who shifted from advertising to fine art. “I hope that people will maybe take a little bit of that tranquility home with them,” Parker said during an appearance on “Live In The D.”

“Common Ground started in the city of Birmingham in 1971, and volunteers quickly put together this art fair - back then it was called Art in the Park - to become part of the community and start to raise funds for Common Ground,” said Michelle Hess of Common Ground.

“Mental health support is always available 24/7 through the 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline,” said Hess.
