Trans-Siberian Orchestra Brings Holiday Thunder Back to Detroit

‘Ghosts Of Christmas Eve’ Returns with Thunder, Lasers, And A Motor City Roar

Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) is firing up its lasers, strings and sky-high vocals for a post-holiday blowout at Little Caesars Arena on Dec. 27, with two performances of its fan-favorite production, “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve.”

During an interview on “Live In The D,” TSO musical director Al Pitrelli and vocalist Kayla Reeves promised Detroit a night that’s as much spectacle as story. “Visually, it’s hands down the biggest rock and roll show on God’s earth,” Pitrelli said.

The tour features the beloved narrative created by the late TSO founder Paul O’Neill, plus a tip of the hat to the 25th anniversary of “Beethoven’s Last Night,” weaving in selections the band once saved for spring. Expect the group’s signature genre blend - classics-meets-arena rock, choral swells, acoustic interludes and guitar heroics - amped up for a crowd that loves it loud.

Reeves said the Motor City faithful help push the band to another level. “Michigan is so fun to play. You guys are nuts. You guys are the best crowd. So the energy you give us, it just makes our job easier,” she said.

TSO’s holiday run has become a multi-generational tradition, and Detroit is no exception. Pitrelli noted the band now sees families three and four generations deep filling arenas, a responsibility the group takes seriously as it tries to top itself each winter.

There’s also the philanthropy that’s been part of TSO’s DNA since the beginning: one dollar from every ticket sold goes back to a local charity in each tour city, a commitment inspired by O’Neill and the O’Neill family.
