Trey Simon Brings Grit and Grace To “Music Monday”

Soulful Singer Spotlights “Canaan” and a Concert Benefiting Foster Youth

Singer-songwriter Trey Simon stopped by “Live In The D” for this week’s Music Monday, bringing his signature soul and storytelling - and a message that’s as uplifting as it is honest.

“Detroit is gritty. Detroit is a place where people fight through things. We’re tough,” Simon said, explaining how the city shapes his sound. He added that the core of his songwriting is about honesty - holding space for the hard moments while still celebrating the wins.

Simon used his appearance to highlight a special show on Sept. 19: Concert for a Cause, which supports House of Providence in Oakland County. The nonprofit serves youth in the welfare and foster care systems with a learning center designed to provide a safe place to learn, grow and heal - work Simon called “incredible.”

In studio, he performed his song “Canaan,” a soaring, hopeful track about moving forward with purpose. The song is about embracing the journey, making peace with the past and stepping into what you’re meant to be.
