Frankenmuth is leaning into sweater weather with a full slate of fall events - and a few big additions.
Oktoberfest takes center stage this weekend, running Thursday through Sunday. “Fall is really, iconically, Oktoberfest - it’s fall in Frankenmuth, to be quite honest with you,” said Jamie Furbush, president and CEO of the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Saturday brings family-friendly Wiener dog races, while evenings lean into reconnecting with friends.
The following weekend turns up the heat with the Frankenmuth Fire Arts Festival at Heritage Park, featuring live fire performances, hands-on workshops and craft drinks. “You can enjoy live fire performances, participate in different workshops, and even enjoy a smoked, flaming cocktail,” said Brooke Bronner, the chamber’s director of marketing.
What’s new around town? The Bavarian Blast water park expansion opened earlier this year and continues to draw crowds, joining year-round favorites like Zehnder’s Splash Village. Fresh places to stay are on the way, too: The Mill at Zehnder Park - a boutique, four-suite property overlooking Main Street or the Cass River - is set to open just after the first of the year, with a Home2 Suites also coming online soon. Pro tip: book early for winter break.
