Selling your home? Here are some tips to help add décor appeal

Lifestyle Editor Jon Jordan wants to help you spruce up your home, in hopes of getting it sold

If you’ve noticed more for sale signs in your neighborhood, that’s because typically there’s a real estate listing surge after Labor Day. Would-be sellers want to take advantage of the cooperative weather prior to the first flurries and distraction of the upcoming holiday season. If your home is currently on the market, or will be soon, are you confident that your interior décor is ready for showings? If not, or if you feel you need some help sprucing things up, Local 4’s Lifestyle Editor Jon Jordan has some tips that could help.

“Your online listing is so key to selling a home,” Jordan said. He said before you list your home, you may want to take some tips from the following list.

1-Declutter your home by getting rid of all the extra stuff you don’t want to show in photos.

2- Tidy up. Be sure your house is very clean before a showing.

3-Have a moving sale. Estate or garage sells can help you get rid of unwanted things. And help with the moving process. You can also use this time to mention to people, the house will soon be listed.

4-Do a deep clean, and neutralize odors.

5-Neutralize color if possible. Too much color may not be a good selling point.

6-Touch up. Little nicks and dings can be touched up very easily, and can make a big difference.

Jordan also said, finishing touches can make a big difference, try adding things like throws, accent rugs, pillows and art, and store your items in organizers.
