It looks like a high-tech classroom on wheels, and for local students, it just might be the coolest field trip that comes to them.
Pfizer’s School of Science Mobile Experience pulled into town with a double-expandable trailer packed with hands-on experiments, interactive displays and a full-on escape-room challenge that moves kids from diagnosis to discovery. Think chemistry, biology, DNA and the science of vaccines.
“You’ll see the joy in their faces,” said Dan Roth, Pfizer’s Rochester Site Lead. “You’ll see how much fun they’re having. And if they can get out of the classroom and actually come and have an experience like this and be inspired to maybe think about STEM… once you get through an experience like this, it can change minds.”
Inside, the first room focuses on the patient experience, guiding students through how a doctor might spot patterns across different cases and search for the root cause. From there, teams solve puzzles, move through stations and unlock the next challenge—together.
The goal is simple: make science feel accessible, exciting and doable. Kids get up close with lab tools they might not otherwise touch, while the format keeps the energy high and the curiosity higher.
“My hope is that there’s at least one child that walks out of here inspired to be a scientist,” Roth said. “Maybe 10 years from now, 20 years from now or 30 years from now, one of these children might be making a life-changing event for humanity.”
Pfizer’s mobile lab tours the country and made this Michigan stop as part of the company’s push to connect with communities and spark the next generation of problem solvers.
