Road-Trip Dreams Roll into Novi

36th Annual Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show runs Oct. 1-5 at Suburban Collection Showplace

If a fall getaway on wheels is calling your name, the 36th Annual Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show is setting up camp at the Suburban Collection Showplace from Oct. 1-5, bringing hundreds of rigs, must-have accessories and campground know-how under one roof.

“You’re going to be able to see hundreds of RVs,” said Justin O’Bryan, general manager of Vicars Trailer Sales. “It’s going to start at pop-ups, travel trailers. There’s going to be hybrids that are mixed between. There are fifth wheels, toy haulers, tons of them. You’re going to even see motorhomes, Class A, B and C motorhomes.”

Shoppers can climb through everything from cozy family trailers to plush motorhomes, compare floor plans, and talk towing and tech with dealers. O’Bryan spotlighted a lightweight, budget-friendly camper drawing early attention: “This is only 3,000 pounds, capable of sleeping five people,” he said. “We’ve got it under $10,000 with the rebates with Forest River.”

“Folks, this thing is perfect for those that like to travel the United States or work remotely,” said Dave Steighner of Kline’s RV Center, showing off a KZ Durango fifth wheel with a multi-position sliding table, farm-style sink, solid-surface countertops and even a dishwasher. “Just imagine working right here, looking out at the beautiful lake, rocking your work day.”

For first-timers, the show offers an easy way to plan a season of camping - think crisp fall weekends, football tailgates and Halloween campground festivities - plus guidance on what your SUV can realistically tow.

Hours are 1-8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 for adults, $11 for seniors, and children 12 and under are free. More details are available at marvac.org.
