Detroit’s History Takes Center Stage at Somerset North

Over 100 artifacts celebrate Detroit’s legacy

Detroit’s past and present come alive this October with a special exhibition inside the Grand Concourse at Somerset North, celebrating the Detroit Shoppe’s 15th anniversary. Running October 3–25, the display showcases more than 100 artifacts from the Detroit Historical Society’s collection, offering a rare look at the city’s cultural, industrial, and entertainment legacy.

As you saw during our broadcast on “Live In The D,” – the highlights include an original Tiger Stadium sign, a rare Ford Mustang concept car, Aretha Franklin’s sparkling Marc Bauer gown, uniforms from Lions legends, historic theater seats, a Bob-lo Island bumper car, and even a banner from the Tigers’ 1968 World Series championship. Visitors can enjoy live performances, special programs, and a Detroit-themed scavenger hunt with prizes throughout the month.

Designed to honor Detroit’s vibrant story, the Detroit Shoppe invites guests to celebrate 15 years of showcasing the people, places, and products that continue to shape the city’s future.
