Live in the D welcomed representatives from Wayne County Government to spotlight public-sector career opportunities and invite job seekers to bring their résumés to the Michigan Career Fair, happening Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel Southfield–Detroit, 26555 Telegraph Road. The segment—presented by JobFairGiant.com—previewed how Wayne County is leading the charge in government hiring and career advancement across Metro Detroit.
Building Careers That Serve the Community
As one of Michigan’s largest employers, Wayne County Government offers meaningful career paths that keep communities moving and residents safe. From public safety and public health to engineering, transportation, and administration, the county continues to strengthen its workforce and modernize local infrastructure.
This season, the Wayne County Department of Public Services is recruiting Public Service Maintenance Workers A-1 and B, along with Bridge Workers, to join its winter operations teams. These essential roles handle snow and ice removal, road-salt application, plowing, drainage clearing, pavement repair, and guardrail maintenance across more than 2,000 miles of county-maintained roads. Applicants with experience in heavy equipment operation, construction, or road maintenance are encouraged to apply and help ensure safe travel during Michigan’s toughest weather.
County recruiters will attend the Michigan Career Fair to meet candidates in person and discuss competitive benefits, including healthcare, pension plans, paid training, and advancement opportunities.
Michigan’s Largest Government and Industry Hiring Event
The Michigan Career Fair, sponsored by JobFairGiant.com, is the state’s largest multi-industry hiring event. More than 50 employers and over 3,000 job seekers are expected to attend.
In addition to Wayne County Government, featured employers include GFL Environmental, Prime Healthcare of Michigan, Oakland County Road Commission, Stellantis, Metro EHS Health Services, Macy’s, Autokiniton, U.S. Farathane, Trinity Health, and Kalitta Air—representing Michigan’s fastest-growing sectors from manufacturing and healthcare to logistics, aviation, technology, and skilled trades.
Immediate Openings and On-Site Interviews
Many participating employers will conduct on-the-spot interviews, offering candidates a direct path to employment before the holidays. Autokiniton is hiring 80 Maintenance Production Operators, nine Technicians, and nine Weld Robotic Technicians, underscoring Michigan’s strong demand for skilled manufacturing talent.
Trinity Health is expanding its team with Medical Assistants across multiple Oakland County locations, while Gerber Collision & Glass is recruiting Auto Body Technicians in Ann Arbor, Grand Ledge, Lansing, Monroe, Southfield, Utica, and other Michigan cities. These employers—and more than 50 others—will meet candidates face-to-face to fill hundreds of immediate openings statewide.
