The OWN series “Ready to Love” takes place in Detroit this season and has turned its lens on the city, following a group of singles on their journey to find meaningful connections. From first impressions to heartfelt breakthroughs, this season is not just about romance but also about representing Detroit’s take on relationships.
Cast members Lauren Woodson, Ashanté Harrell, and Darius Blackmon joined “Live in the D” to talk about their experiences on the show.
When host Tati Amare asked why Detroit is the perfect city for this season, Woodson replied, “we are a city of power couples, we’re trendsetters, so why not put a lens on us right now?” Blackmon chimed in with the developments of Downtown Detroit making the city phenomenal, saying it’s a great dating scene.
The cast talked about their time being on camera, catching all the good, bad, and unfiltered moments. “You might lose your cool, you may misspeak, you may be misunderstood, but you have to know yourself enough to know whatever outside judgement I might get from the experience, I’m comfortable with how I behaved because it was authentic” Harrell shared.
