A mix of high-octane action, slick sleight-of-hand and family-friendly fantasy leads this weekend’s movie lineup, according to Greg Russell of MovieShowPlus.com, who joined Live in the D for the latest Reel Talk.
First up is The Running Man, a fresh spin on the Stephen King story previously adapted in the 1980s. The thriller follows a desperate contestant trying to outlast a month-long manhunt for a massive cash prize, with Glen Powell headlining and William H. Macy, Colman Domingo and Josh Brolin in support.
The franchise returns to the stage with Now You See Me, Now You Don’t, featuring a new generation of magicians roped into a daring heist, with Ruben Fleischer directing and the ensemble touting big laughs on set. “I love this franchise. I’ve been blessed to do interviews for all of it, including this one,” Russell said, calling the film a fun ride packed with trickery and reveals.
Rounding out the picks is In Your Dreams, an animated feature streaming on Netflix about siblings who try to mend their family amid a divorce by teaming up inside their dreamscapes.
