Throwbacks, and the old school toy favorites that never seem to go out of style, were a big topic on “Live in the D.” The show spoke with Toy Insider Laurie Schacht about what’s popular in 2025, and all will spark nostalgia. “We have so many great toys,” Schacht said. She previewed a few on the show, like the “Peekaboo, Winnie the Pooh,” which talks and plays a fun game with kids, when you push its foot.
She also showed off a super cute “Rainbow Bright” doll, that looks identical to the one from the 80s.
One toy that’s switching things up is “Play Dough.” Schacht said it has the original compound, but now a retro mix, each one having 6 kinds of compounds. The different slimes are butter, cloud, foam and stretchy, and each have a different scent and feel.
Next, is “Sonic Racing Cross Worlds,” a remote-control racing car that lights up, and does other cool tricks. “Multiple kids can be playing at the same time, and the remote control has a turbo button.”
She also showed some cool “Pokémon” and “Tamagotchi” collections.
