Movie reviewer Greg Russell stopped by Live in the D on Friday with his takes on several new weekend options, singling out the big-screen musical Wicked and a tense crime drama set in Belfast.
“Everybody who was there at the theater was just all excited, and it was primarily a lot of moms and daughters, and that was just so nice to see,” Russell said of Wicked: For Good. “It’s colorful. New songs as well.” He gave it four reels, adding that fans of the franchise “are going to enjoy this as well as all the new songs.”
He also touched on a series called “Blue Lights,” which is a tense crime drama that follows three rookie cops in Belfast, Ireland. Russell said the season finds its characters digging into the city’s underworld and facing “some really bad people.” He gave it a thumbs-up for its twists and character focus. “I enjoyed it very much,” Russell said. “You’re going to be guessing.”
