Experience Winter fun for the family at Treetops Resort

They’re one of the sponsors helping make possible a $500 gift card for Live in the D’s Days of Giving contest

Treetops Resort helped kick off Live in the D’s Days of Giving with a winter-wonderland preview.

“We’ve just got so many things that the families can do together,” said Barry Owens, general manager of Treetops Resort, during his appearance on the show. He highlighted skiing and snowboarding for all levels, beginner-friendly terrain-based learning with a magic carpet, and non-skill tubing runs the whole family can enjoy.

The Gaylord destination is leaning into family experiences this season with indoor-outdoor pools (including a swim-out experience in falling snow), an ice rink with a bonfire, and a full-service spa. At the hilltop restaurant Legends, parents can grab coffee or a glass of wine and watch for their kids carving turns below.

Tubing gets an adrenaline boost on two lanes: Thunderstruck and Sidewinder. Thunderstruck hit radar-gunned speeds of 42 mph last season, and Sidewinder runs even faster. A 40-inch height requirement applies.

Owens also teased a new after-dark tradition. “We’re doing a thing called Blackout T, where we’re going to turn the lights off, almost all of them, with some special lights on — and, of course, we’ll sell T-shirts that say, ‘I blacked out at Treetops.’”

New this winter, a life-size “Mama Bear” mascot — decked out in goggles, hat and suspenders — will roam the property and ski the hill.
