Detroit – Detroit’s holiday traditions are coming alive again, blending festive flavors, fashion, and stories from the city’s past. From nostalgic meals to exclusive events, this season’s “Hudson’s Holiday” event is one that you will not want to miss. Rebecca Salminen Witt, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at Detroit Historical Museum stopped by “Live in the D,” to give a preview of what people can expect.
“This year is a blockbuster, I have to tell you, we have cleared out the entire gallery of culture and filled it with Hudson’s, all of our Hudson’s artifacts,” Salminen Witt said. Speaking about the Hudson’s exhibit that is currently on display at the museum, she said they are going back from 100 years ago - from the beginning of Hudson’s - to almost current times. The exhibit tells the story of the famous department store’s rich history. She said, you’ll find Santa Bears, fashion, architectural elements, and much more.
In addition to the exhibit - which runs through January 5th - there are a couple of events happening to celebrate the historic store.
On Friday December 20, from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., there will be a Holiday Dinner, featuring original dishes from the Hudson’s restaurant. Then on December 21, the Hudson’s Holiday Brunch will take place from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Detroit Historical Museum in Midtown Detroit.
