“Helping people and their pets when they need it most.” That’s the motto for “VEG ER for Pets, a 24/7 pet hospital with over 100 locations nationwide. They just opened their first Michigan location, in Ann Arbor.
Their unique approach to emergency pet care provides immediate service, and their open concept provides wrap around care for both pets and pet parents. ”What sets “VEG ER for Pets,” apart from other emergency hospitals is the open concept, and the fact that owners can be with their pets the whole time...we don’t have exam rooms that we put people in and have them wait for a long time so we see their pet immediately," said “Dr. Daniel Hughes, Medical Director at VEG ER for Pets in Ann Arbor.”
He said as soon as patients walk through the door, they do a triage exam to make sure the pet is stable. Dr. Hughes said the same immediate service they provide at the veterinary hospital, applies when pet parents call. “You can talk directly to a doctor about your pet’s problems and concerns and get that expert advice. That way our doctors know exactly what’s going on with your pet already.”
VEG ER for Pets also provides services for non-traditional pets. “We’ve seen potbellied pigs, we’ve seen birds, bearded dragons, guinea pigs, rabbits - you name it, we see it.
He said the hospital provides a variety of services, surgery, blood transfusions and more.
Something very unique about the hospital, is they allow pet parents to stay with their pets throughout the entire treatment process - even during surgery. They also have the option to stay overnight, in a comfortable sleeping room, giving parents a sense of relief and less stress for them and their pet.
VEG ER for Pets is located at 3157 Ann Arbor- Saline Road in Ann Arbor.
