Detroit Sandwich Week 2025: What you need to know

A beloved 12-year tradition returns with pop-ups, a ticketed dinner and a TV special on Local 4

Sandwich Week is sliding back into the five days between Christmas and New Year’s, bringing a citywide celebration of stacked creations, pop-ups and a TV episode dedicated to Detroit’s favorite handheld.

“It’s a universal food,” said organizer and host Carlos Parisi, known for the show “Carlos Eats Detroit” on Local 4+. “If you don’t love sandwiches, then you’re not finding the right sandwich for you yet.”

What began as a friends’ three-hour lunch 12 years ago has grown into a multi-stop series spanning seven events in five days. The lineup opens with a Mudgie’s Deli party at noon on the first day and continues with a pop-up at Vesper Books & Wine featuring Aidi Spaghetti, a Sunday noon stop at nationally lauded Ladder 4 Wine Bar, and a ticketed dinner in the long-off-limits basement of the historic Dakota Inn.

Later in the week, events are slated at Roccos and Tall Trees Café (Tuesday at noon), with a closing raffle party at Batch Brewing Co. in Corktown. Parisi said the team plans to build a 15-foot sandwich—maybe two.

“And you don’t even have to come with me,” Parisi said. “Just celebrate the sandwich. Wherever you are, just make yourself a PB&J at home because it’s Sandwich Week.”

Parisi’s “Carlos Eats Detroit” returns New Year’s Day at 4 p.m. on Local 4 and streaming on Local 4+, featuring three shops from his latest “top 10 craveable sandwiches” roundup and behind-the-line time with the crews who make them.

Tickets for the Dakota Inn dinner and event details are available via Parisi’s Instagram bio (@carlosparisi). “That’s what the holidays are all about,” he said—bringing people together, one sandwich at a time.
