Live in the D kicked off its first Reel Talk of the new year with Greg Russell of Movieshowplus.com spotlighting a trio of weekend watches heavy on survival, terror and straight-up horror.
Russell stamped “Greenland 2,” the Gerard Butler disaster sequel, with four reels. “I give it a four, because everybody who was there, you’re screaming, you’re jumping, and that’s what you want,” he said, praising the sequel’s relentless pace and upgraded visuals.
“Primate,” a lean 88-minute thriller about a family-raised chimp in Hawaii that contracts rabies, also drew four reels from Russell. He noted the crowd-pleasing runtime and momentum.
Rounding out the slate is “Don’t Answer,” a horror entry about a delivery driver whose route turns deadly. Cast members told Russell the film leans into classic slasher vibes with jumps and a touch of levity. Russell called it a solid at-home watch — “You can check it out on Prime Video … it’s a fun little thing” — and noted it’s written, directed and produced by Marc S. Allen.
