Greg Russell of Movieshowplus.com returns this week to discuss a mix of horror and romance movies to watch this weekend with plenty of twists and turns.
Greg began with the return of a popular horror movie franchise this month, with “28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,” earning four reels. The franchise has begun a brand-new trilogy of movies with “The Bone Temple” serving as a direct sequel to last year’s reintroduction to the films, following an 18-year hiatus. Despite being the middle of a planned trilogy, which Greg believes can lead to unsatisfying endings, he noted this one gives you a payoff of sorts that can still have you yearning for more.
“People We Meet on Vacation,” which was released last week on Netflix, earned three and a half reels from Greg. “It’s a predictable but fun watch,” he said, noting that sometimes predictable isn’t always bad. The plot follows the relationship and travels of a pair of friends.
Greg’s final movie discussion was “Rosemead,” a film that was released worldwide last week despite having its premiere last year in June. Following a more serious note, it focuses on a single mother with health issues in Los Angeles trying to raise a son who has an obsession with serial killers and getting him help before it’s too late. It earned four reels from Greg, citing that lead actress Lucy Liu deserved more recognition for her performance.
