Belle Isle Nature Center offers educational fun all year-round

Center offers a variety of free programming

A Detroit gem is offering interactive exhibits, animal habitats, and a chance to learn about nature. You can experience it all while staying indoors at the Belle Isle Nature Center.

Nature Center Director Amy Greene shared that visitors can expect free, family fun at the center on Belle Isle.

“In the city, we want to connect people to the natural world -- to their space in the natural world,” Greene explained.

Nature center guests can see animal habitats ranging from frogs to turtles, bees and even mudpuppies.

In addition to offering a variety of exhibits, the Belle Isle Nature Center provides programming for kids and adults.

Families are invited to come to the Belle Isle Nature Center for Shiver on the River, which is an event that focuses on the Detroit River ecosystem. It offers opportunities for guests to enjoy treats like s’mores and hot chocolate while learning about nature. Shiver on the River will run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7th.
