Host football watch parties like a champ with Kroger

Everything from deli platters, Murray’s Cheese boards and bakery treats

With a big football weekend on deck, Kroger is leaning into ready-made ease and mix-and-match options to help hosts feed a crowd without spending the day in the kitchen.

“This is the second-biggest food consumption weekend behind only Thanksgiving, and we’re going to make it quick, simple and easy for you,” said Cameron Barrett, head of communications and public affairs for Kroger. “Go over and visit our deli. We’ve got platters you don’t have to lift a finger for - chicken tenders, party subs - and even a new item alert: Flamin’ Hot Cheetos wings,” he said, during an appearance on Live in the D.

Beyond the deli, Barrett pointed to sweet-and-savory upgrades that travel well, including football-themed cupcakes and Private Selection sushi. “Regardless of the occasion, you’re looking upscale, downscale - lots of people or not a lot - we’ve got you covered,” he said.

For guests tasked with bringing a foolproof shareable, Murray’s Cheese is positioning its grab-and-go boards and in-store expertise as a standout solution. “You can never go wrong with anything that we carry,” said Jessica Bauer, a Murray’s Cheese Specialist. “If you’re looking for something quick and convenient, we have trays on hand, plus cubes and dips. If you want to build your own, our experts in the snazzy red jackets can help you select the perfect cheeses and accompaniments.”

Bauer’s easy pairings include a sliced French baguette with Jarlsberg dip and cornichon pickles for a savory bite, or a heartier board with local McClure’s pickles, salami, aged cheddar and crisp crackers. “Pick up crackers and cheese and head on out or choose from a variety of boards we carry on hand,” she said.

Barrett’s top tip: start with a headcount, then layer in platters and produce for balance. “We’re hosting, so I’ve already got a 30-piece chicken tender platter ordered,” he said. “Add fresh-cut fruit and veggies from produce to keep it well-rounded. We have a lot of grab-and-go options that make hosting on Sunday super easy.”
