Michigan Wolverine fans looking to hold onto the magic of the program’s latest NCAA men’s basketball championship have a new option: a limited-edition commemorative basketball from Nikco Sports, with only 2,026 units available.
The St. Louis-based, family-owned company says the full-size, fully licensed ball features embossed logos and engraved text documenting the entire championship run - including season stats and Michigan basketball history. Each ball comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity and retails for $149.95.
“This is their first championship in 37 years. So, this is historical,” said Nichole Massie, Vice President of Nikco Sports. “Having this ball has got so many memories and so much meaning behind it.”
The promotion also has a charitable component. Nikco Sports is partnering with Make-A-Wish Michigan, donating two balls for use at the organization’s gala. The company has a long history of philanthropy - “we have donated over $3.5 million to charities throughout the country,” Massie said, during an appearance on Live in the D.
