Police identified and tracked the man throughout the day on Tuesday. The suspect is wanted in connection to a cold case murder from 2006 and a rape case, according to authorities.
He has not yet been formally charged.
Police began searching for the suspect after he attacked the two EMTs, who responded to a call for a woman with a sprained ankle. After assessing her injury, the EMTs decided that the woman wouldn't need to be transported in the EMS rig. This is when the suspect attacked Rojas, 25, with a box cutter and eventually slashed him and Adams, 49, when she jumped in to help.
Rojas and Adams drove themselves to the hospital after the attack. Both have undergone surgeries for stab wounds to their faces and hands.
Rojas' mother says Adams recognized the suspect when they got to the scene because he had allegedly given them trouble in the past. Adams told Rojas to be careful around the man, she said.

Christie Adams, Kelly Adams' sister, says Adams puts her life on the line every day for others.
"Kelly is an amazing woman," she said. "She's always trying to help others."
Family members say the whole ordeal has been like a nightmare and they're still in disbelief that someone would attack two people who were only trying to help someone in distress.
"I feel so bad because he do his job with all his heart," said Rojas' mother
Rojas had a second surgery on his hand Tuesday. Adams has also shown quite a bit of improvement.
Doctors say there is a chance there will be some permanent scarring but both are expected to make a full recovery.
