MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Michigan State Police said an investigation after a home invasion on July 19 in Monroe led troopers to a hotel room in Madison Heights this week where they found several stolen items and four people.
Police said the recovered items were part of a burglary ring that struck Monroe, Oakland and Macomb counties. The four people found at the Madison Heights Knights Inn could be connected to the stolen items, police said. Charges were pending Wednesday.

One of the items taken from the Monroe home invasion was a smart phone, police said. A state trooper pinged the phone's GPS system which led police to the Knights Inn at Dequindre Road and Interstate 696 in Madison Heights, police said.
Police said one of the four people found with the stolen items in the hotel room is a prime suspect in several break-ins throughout Metro Detroit.
State police are asking the public to take a good look at the items and contact the Monroe Michigan State Police post or a local police department if anything belongs to you.
