Dearborn Man Won't Be Charged In Fiance's Death Couple's 3-Month-Old Child Found Inside House
DEARBORN – The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Monday it would not file charges against a Dearborn man who told police he had shot his fiance dead.
Police said they arrested the man Friday afternoon in the couple's home on Highview Street after he had called to report the shooting. When they arrived, police said 26-year-old Ebony Gaines was found fatally shot.
"After an investigation and review of the facts and evidence, it has been determined that the shooting was in lawful self-defense and the warrant has been denied," the Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.
Police said the couple's 3-month-old child had been inside the home at the time of the shooting, but was unharmed.
