Ann Arbor Dry Cleaner Closes Abruptly

Customers' Clothing Locked Up Inside

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – An Ann Arbor dry cleaner closed and left customers scratching their heads and wondering if they will ever get their clothes back.

The sign on the door of Colonnade Dry Cleaners on West Eisenhower Parkway says closed.

But what it doesn't say is that the dry cleaner is permanently closed because the owner is in default.

The clothes were still sitting inside Friday and have been there in plastic for about six weeks.

Melissa Williams said her ticket shows she dropped off her clothes at Colonnade on July 6.

"He seemed honest," Williams said of the owner. "He knew me by last name. I got a little angry after about three weeks of not hearing anything."

Among the customers without clothes are Ann Arbor police officers. Many officers had their uniforms cleaned at Colonnade.

Neighbors said the owner was in the store this past weekend giving back clothes to customers who showed up.

Williams said she received a phone call from the owner who let her know she can go pick up her clothes, which she said are worth $500 collectively.
