Police: Man Climbed Through Window To Attack Woman

Attack Happens At Inkster's Canterbury Woods Apartments

INKSTER, Mich. – Inkster police said a woman was attacked early Tuesday morning in her home by a man who had cut through the screen of her window and climbed inside.

Police said the break-in and assault happened just before 6 a.m. on Tobin Drive in the Canterbury Woods apartments, which are near Beech Daly and Avondale roads.

The woman, who is in her 20s, fought back and was able to get away from the man with only minor cuts and bruises, police said.

Dwayne Wells lives in a nearby apartment and said he was jolted awake by the woman screaming.

"I heard screaming. I didn't know what it was because I was asleep. So, I thought I was dreaming," he said. "She was freaked out. Her lip was busted, she was bleeding, she was messed up pretty bad."

The intruder is described by police as a black man in his mid 20s, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 170 pounds. He was dressed in all black.

The Inkster police are asking for anyone that may have been leaving the complex for work at that time and seen anything pertaining to this subject or anyone with information to contact the Inkster olice or Crime Stoppers at 800-SPEAK UP.
