Ford Crown Victoria Production Ends
Police Interceptor Version To End
DETROIT – The first Ford Crown Victoria was introduced in 1955.
Consumer sales of the sedan ended in 2008, but production of the Police Interceptor version continued.
However, all production of the Crown Victoria will end.
Ford will produce police vehicles based on the Taurus sedan and Explorer sports utility vehicle. Both get more miles per gallon compared to the CVPI.
Crown Victoria sales have risen 64 percent this year as police departments stockpile the old favorite.
