Michigan Legislature Approves Ann Arbor High-Speed Rail Stop
The Future of Passenger Service -- Rep. Mark Ouimet
LANSING – Recently, the Michigan state Congress approved Senate Bill 237, legislation providing funding for a nearly $3 million high-speed rail project that will include a station in Ann Arbor, and a future Detroit-to-Chicago route.
Michigan State Representative Mark Ouimet, R-Scio Township, in a press release, called the project ?the future of passenger service in the United States.?

?It?s only fitting that Ann Arbor become a hub for this groundbreaking mode of transportation,? Rep. Ouimet said.
SB 237 permits Michigan to collect almost $360 million in federal grants to build the railway from Detroit to Chicago.
These infrastructure projects can improve freight and passenger transportation and could ?usher in an economic boon as well,? Rep. Ouimet said.
