Pictures Of Hope: Detroit Children Become Photojournalists

Photographs Will Be Turned Into Holiday Greeting Cards To Benefit Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries

DETROIT – For children who live at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries, a picture is worth one word: hope.

Linda Solomon, an award winning photojournalist and author, is bringing her nationally recognized program "Pictures of Hope" to Detroit.

Solomon will be teaching a photography lesson, and will empower children who live at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries to capture photos of what they consider moments of hope. Following the photo exercise, Solomon and Susan Lanni, general manager of Gordon Chevrolet, will surprise the children with cameras.

These photographs of hopes and dreams will be transformed into holiday greeting cards, which will be sold through the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries. All of the proceeds from the sale of these greeting cards will benefit families and children who receive services at the mission.

During the holiday season from Thanksgiving until Christmas, every customer who purchases a new Chevrolet from Gordon Chevrolet will be given the "Pictures of Hope" greeting cards as a gift. A matching donation will be given to the shelter from Gordon Chevrolet.

The celebration of the unveiling of the children's "Pictures of Hope" cards will take place in November at Gordon Chevrolet.
