Detroit mayor now receives $158K salary Bing received $1 per year for 2 years as mayor

DETROIT – After two years of taking just $1 per year in salary compensation, Detroit Mayor Dave Bing said Friday that he would start receiving a $158,000 yearly salary.
"In the interest of transparency, I feel it is important to disclose that I have begun to accept my salary. I will continue to support charitable organizations as I've done throughout my careers," Bing said.
His salary is 10 percent less than authorized -- in line with the value of furlough days that are required of Detroit city employees.
