The holiday season is right around the corner and that means it's time for the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign to kick off.

Wednesday morning, the World's Tallest Red Kettle was installed in Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit. The kettle will be lit as the final presentation in the Salvation Army's 2011 Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff on Friday, prior to the city's tree lighting ceremony. The lighting is the highlight of the Salvation Army's program that evening, with 25,000 red LED's illuminating the giant red kettle. Detroit Red Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Ken Holland, along with Quicken Loans CEO Bill Emerson will ring the first official bells of the season at Campus Martius Park.
